German Federal Constitutional Court delegation to visit Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic

  • 13. July 2009

A delegation from the German Federal Constitutional Court will pay a visit to the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic (ÚS SR) in Košice on July 13, ÚS SR spokesman Jozef Skybjak informed the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR).

“German and Slovak constitutional judges will follow up in Košice on their business talks last year in the German town of Karlsruhe. They will focus on current decision-making in both constitutional courts, on the abstract control of constitutionality and on constitutional complaints, concentrating on the right to court protection and the right to fair legal proceedings according to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Substantial attention will be paid to the latest decision of the German Federal Constitutional Court, which has confirmed that the EU Lisbon Treaty is in compliance with the country’s constitution,” Skybjak added.

The chairmen of both constitutional courts, Hans-Jürgen Papier and Ivetta Macejková, will be received by the president of the Parliament of the Slovak Republic, Pavol Paška, on July 14.
